Not to mention the money it cost to do it. Friends of mine that didn't do anything past high school have had full time jobs making around 60K/year. They still have the jobs, too. I'm the butt of their jokes now. They look at me and say, "I'm sure glad I didn't go to college."
Not a daym thing for recent grads! I just graduated in May 03 and haven't found anything either. None of my friends from home went to school and they are all working, granted it is blue collar work. When the professor gave the speech at graduation he said my class was graduating in one of the worse times ever. I can't believe how right he was. Well actually I can believe it because it seems like every potential job I find is some scam type comission/sales job. What's worse is that my loans are out of deferment now. I recently called the bank and asked for an extension, the papers still aren't here yet. Well I just hope it isn't another year before I find something. I guess it could be worse.

I love my job at Frys. All but the hours. Sometimes I wish I had less, but i'm afraid to ask for less at the moment. Dont want to get shot by my boss.

chances of getting hired at in N out is a lot less than getting hired at McD's.

ditto on everything thats been said. been lookin for a job for almost a year now. gets frustrating when they call u back for a second and even a third interview and they tell you they like u a lot but decide on going with the person with more experience. why did they even call me back if they pretty much knew who they wanted.

anyways...got another interview tomorrow. hopefully i get this one.

i was laid off from the dot-com that i worked at in July. i've been looking for a job moderately hard since then, and haven't found much. nothing in the way of what i was doing, all of those positions are either full, outsourced to a foreign country, or downright gone down the drain with the company. anything available wants more experience than god, Einstein and Linus Torvaldis combined.

so tommorow i'm going to go check out a bartending school. i figure its gotta pay better than being unemployed, and it sure as hell ain't a cube farm.

The stories about how hard it is for recent grads on this thread is making me re-think my plans w/ school and work. I currently work full-time and go to school. I'll be done by this summer and was actually thinking of quitting my job to make sure I graduate by this summer (full-time school + fullt-time work = miserable life )

Yet, in the back of my mind, I'm thinking whether I should stick it out at work and prolong my graduation until the end of this year. It doesn't help that I've been working for the same place for 7 years now and I am really wanting a new work environment.

-Soren

p.s. Good luck to all that is up for interviews or looking for work.

i graduated last may and i had a job waiting for me. the only problem is that it is not what i went to school for and i am trying to find something related more towards my degree (mechanical engineering) but its impossible to find entry level jobs

oh yeah the job that i had waiting was as a civil engineer. i was lucky enough to do a few internships and so i had a job secured even though its a different form of engineering. i am just thankful that i have a job even though i want a new one

Don't quit the job. I know what it's like working alot and going to school, but it's better to have a job you despise than no job at all.

My job is ok. Some days I like it, other days I hate it. The grass always seems greener on the otherside...
