How does a stock 06/07 WRX TR hang with an E46 M3?

I witnessed this twice tonight... The TR is stock sans a cat back (does no hp increase really and a panel filter replacement) Not only did the WRX hang with the M3, it actually beat it in 1/4, two times, two diff drivers. The M3 had to have been SMG (Sorry, big n00b when it comes to BMW)

This isn't the first time I've seen this phenomenon... I own an 06' TR with similar mods and have outpaced M3's (E46)... All I had at the time was a high flow filter and a borla hush cat back... (5speed).

The 2005 M3 Competition Pkg with SMG will run 13.3 @ 104.4 mph in the quarter. BTW is a e46 M3 a 2005 or is that the 2001 before model? cause then that would make more sense.

Crappy Drivers?

Wink

... Sand bagging. This is me driving... (old life) and I have driven every M3 before and since for print ads and commercials...

I love Subys, but I drive WRXs everyday at work (selling now) and it ain't an M3. STI vs. M3? It's all about the driver.

It shouldn't, though the mechanisms will weigh down the convertible. Could just be a crap driver.

Ive seen plenty of races where the underpowered car won the race against the higher powered car. Like everyone else said not so good driver.

The E46 M3 series, both coupe and convertible ran from 2001 to 2006. Their designator changed from E36 with the S52 motor which ran two years of production ('98-99).

Well since you are in america that would just be 2 fat chicks.

It's got to be the driver. The M3 has 3 secs advantage already becuase of the pimp status.

Any who, doesn't matter if it's a bad driver or if the TR beat the M3 by a mile I would still get the M3 because of the pimp status, luxary, european, etc..

Not saying I don't like the WRX.
