I wanted to kow what steps to take to get a license. I will finally get my car back on the road and I am very intersted in auto-xing. I know I don't necesarily need an SCCA license to auto-x, but....
....WHERE ARE THE EVENTS LOCATED!
I live in Sacramento but heard they no longer have events around here. Where does everyone else go?
I hope I don't have to drive to Stockton.

Not sure where Sacramento Chapter will be holding their events next year.
As for SFR (San Francisco Region), our events this past year (and presumably next year) have been at
To join SCCA, goto the SCCA Website ( www.scca.org ) and sign up. It'll take about a month or so to get your membership card, but the next SFR Autocross isn't until 2/1/2004.

- CandleStick (just south of SF, off Hwy 101)
- Oakland Coliseum (off of 880 in Oakland)
- Golden Gate Fields (in Albany, just off I-80 about 3 miles north of the Bay Bridge)
- Marina Airport (about 10 minutes this side of Monterey)
- Stockton Fairgrounds

Last time I checked, NASA events were the same price as SCCA events. But that's moot since I don't know where you'll even find a NASA event anymore now that they lost their primary site. You could drive down to Fresno...
Anyway, SCCA runs smoother events and has better drivers. NASA events are so mickey mouse it's not even funny.
I believe AAS still runs events in the Sacramento area. That's the American Autocross Series and they like faster events to suit their more powerful cars. They'll let anyone run though.

What PaulC said concerning NASA vs SCCA AutoX....running NASA last year was eye opening (it'd been a while) for the reasons that Paul listed.
BTW, AAS I believe ran every event last year (and will run every event in 2004) down at Atwater (Winton Ramp at the old Castle AFB). Not the closest site, but a REALLY nice one and you can lay out some cool courses there. I was doing about 80 MPH across the finish line (i.e. towards the top of 3rd gear) in my SS at one of the July AAS Events

postwhore? that's a first...who the fock are you anyways? like you know me dumbazz.
in '97-98, you could enter an SCCA Autocross as a non-member, for like $10 more. Also membership fees have gone up too.
They are too formal, IMHO, and I think they're out of touch with many enthusiasts.
I have a hardcore friend who races a turbo'd BMW 2002 and a spec-racer, and he won't even mess with SCCA because they consider him too "reckless"
I don't know you, but by the sound of your worthless commentary, you prolly need someone to wipe your azz.

well you came accross like a total noob in your first post. What the fock do you expect dumbazz?

back then you didn't have 250+ show up at a minimum for each event...

If you ever went to a NASA event, you would complain about them too. the last NASA event was a total hack and almost dangerous

you friend sounds like a dumbazz fool. We don't need those members, we have enough problems running 250+ members through before they kick us out at the end of the day.
