How to clean titanium?

i'm thinking about getting a used JIC 505s ti catback(full titanium) for my sti. I've seen some pics of it, and it looks fine except for it's dull/blotched color. What can i use to clean it? Would i be able to clean it? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

i used to hvae a titanium bike (not a hi-jack i promise) that i cleaned with some metal cleaner i got from home depot. i think one type of cleaner i used was like a steel wool type (soft but abrasive and you rub it in) that was meant for Ti, and another was just a spray Ti cleaner. im not sure if normal metal cleaner would be bad for it or not. the steel wool type one worked better.

Usually heated metal tends to turn goldish/bronze after it's heated.

If you want to put a shine to it, I've tried a few things.

1st off, wash it off with some type of soap, car wash soap is good enough and not abbrasive. Then, you'll want to dry it off. Get some metal cleaner/polish, like Mother's Chrome Cleaner or Metal Polish, and use that. Or if you want to, just use regular carnuba cleaner wax on it. It'll be able to give it some shine. Then, if you want to, which works for me, is use some WD40 on it. Be sure to wipe it evenly or wipe until it's even.

The WD40 step, I've eliminated since getting metal polish.

so it'd be ok to just use the same cleaning products meant for stainless steel?

what kind of deal did you get on it? I was going to go titanium myself but for $200 I got a fujitsubo super r for $200 instead of the 1k for the full titanium system. 6kg or so was not worth $800 more.

That dull look on the end can is normal. I have had quite a few full titanium exhausts on motorcycles. My muzzy system can looks the same color. Not sure if the midpipe will get hot enough to turn blue or purple but the end can has the normal color in the JIC 505s ti. Titanium doesn't oxidize so you really just have to clean off the dirt. Simple green or just a cleaner/wax spray works good as well.

You can't polish Ti. You can clean it but forget about polishing it. Use some simple green. and wipe it off.
