Similar to what you see on rally cars:

What about mounting some Hella or KC daylighters on a roof rack?

Has anyone done this before? I have never seen/heard of anyone doing this, except the WRC guys.

Maybe I'll start a new trend.

Better night lighting?

It's so easy to overdrive your stock WRX headlights, especially on a long boring stretch of I-5 (which I frequently drive, not conincidentally at night).

You used to be able to get pod lights from Primitive, but I don't see them there anymore, I think I saw a really nice brushbar/light bar from some so cal company but I can't remember their name.....

P-sport has these big 4 light pods;

Tato motorsports has a similar thing in carbon fiber

The roof rack thing is illegal for most rally sanctioning bodies, they generally require forward facing lights to be below the windshield level.

And of course it's illegal to drive on public roads with all those lights on too....

I know the feeling of lack of light in the mountains...that would be cool if you did it, unique too!! Get the ones you can adjust internally if they have them.

I put PIAA 580's in place of my fogs, they are really great for fog/driving lights, a good bright and wide pattern, but you still tend to overdrive them at speeds much over 50 or so.

I'm looking at putting another pair of pencil beams behind the grille, wire those in with the high beams and I should be ready for just about anything.

I'd only invest in a pod rig if I was building a real rally car, they are pretty excessive for street use

I like the idea of mounting them to a roof rack, like the 4X4 guys and their light bars. Ahh, my the redneck in me is showing...

Stock headlights/driving lights plus four KC daylighters... I bet the light you throw on the road is incredible.

I bet you could even do it cheaper than an HID setup.

Oh for sure, the HID rigs are very pricy, a set of hella 5000s or KC daylighters is damn cheap.

as for the roof rack thing, yeah I'd say if you think you want your auxiliary lights mounted on the roof of your car......

.....you might be a redneck

This Legacy was at an ATP dyno day. I think it looks pretty good. You actually have to be in to rally racing to dig it. I think the average passerby might be confused by it.

You would be blinding the crap out of people on I-5 if you had those lights.

would some huge rally lights be legal? I mean... you're not supposed to drive with your high beams on... but what about those rally head lights, damn- thats like 10x brighter
