I'm guessing this is for a new job, Alan. Congrats!!

101 south around 8 am is pretty slow from around SFO down to Oracle. Usually picks up a bit after that through Redwood City, but will slow down at times. Best if you can get another passenger so you can use the carpool.

If possible, I'd take 280 and then 85 or the exit that will get me closest to where I'm going.

Here's the Sig Alert web site. It has pretty up to date traffic conditions.

Southbound 101 at that time of day makes for a leisurely drive. The return trip at around 5 p.m. is equally enjoyable and a nice way to unwind after a day at work.

LOL - I commute from SF to Milpitas everyday and this is my take... if you get to SFO before 730a you're usually fine. Between 730a and 815a is hit/miss. After 815a is usually bad.

I take 101S-380W-280S-85N-237E after 730am and it's never more than 60mins. The worst part of 101S is between Redwood City and Mtn View... but try it out for yourself!

It's taking me about 55 minutes to get from DC to MV on 101-S. Been leaving at around 7ish and getting in around 8.

I'm leaving work at 4:30 and it's taking me about 40 minutes to get back.
