Horn Happy!

I had to drop my gf off at Hastings college for a gig today. I didn't want to move my car plus her's is automatic and it being Sunday I try to be as lazy as possible, so I drove her car (a 2001 Jetta) Forgot what it's like sitting in a VW (I do however remember what it's like to own one ) The window switches don't feel so "manual" it's a total chick car.....

Except the horn!!! Man I forgot the only good thing about vw's. We were driving down Golden Gate and I was blowin everyone up with that thing. At first it even startled me. Anyway I think I got on it a few times with some hesitant scooby locals. I apologize if you were a victim of my horn honking rampage.

cheers

Sounds like you need some supertones for your Subaru...

Firstly, happy 100th post to me! I guess I now know where my evenings are dissapearing to.

And to celebrate I think I'll kick off the 100th post with a flame war by saying...

I really don't care for the sound of the Hella Supertones. They're really high pitched. They're loud as fizzle and very annoying which is great but I much prefer the deeper tone of the VW horn. Anyone around here have something fitting that description? Maybe I'll have to swing by UCKK and check out what all the cool kids are flossin these days.

cheers

garrett -- you can always swap in a VW Jetta horn into your Suby!

HA HA surely you jest! I dunno. It's a nice horn and all but still would like it to be a little louder. I've heard the Piaa's are cool and there is a different model of Hella horn that sounds more "typical" car hornesque. I'd love to have a train horn but might kill people with that or cause an accident. *shrug*

cheers

The Hella trumpet-type horns are nice, I had them on my car before I swapped out for Supertones. They're not as loud as the supertones, but are a bit less directional and have a deeper tone. Griots also sells a micro air horn setup that's totally integrated for ~$40, and a couple of our local guys are really pleased with it; it sounds like a semi horn, but it's only about 3-4 inches square for the whole unit, and no air lines to run, compressor to power, etc. Very loud, very clear, and deeper than the Hellas.
