Anybody here got hookups on tires? I will need some winter tires quite soon..and I also need to swap tires from 1 set of wheels to another set of wheels..

I have a tire machine and balancer in my garage, If you or anybody who reads this wants me to mount and balance tires, I charge $10 a tire. Les shwab wanted $204 dollars to do 4 low pro tires. Anyways, here's my number (916) 878-0716.

Yeah i always buy tires on tire rack and put em on myself.
tire rack is usually the cheapest place i can find, even with shipping.

My dads friend actually bought the tire machine and balancer both for around 3k. He got a slamming deal! Usually they cost around 3k each used.
He raced/races at Altamont and Stockton 99 so he needed it for his slicks every weekend. I just take advantage of having a big garage with his machines. yeeaa.

 

I also am kinda in the market for tires. Not sure if I want to go with some wicked winter tires or a decent set of all seasons.

i believe their summer tires.
the treading has at least 40-60% left.

I have a friend who works for America's Tire (has been there for almost 10 years and is a manager now) and his best recommendation is to find a set of tires on Tirerack, print out the webpage with the price and tire info and America's tire will match the price, but they match the price of what you pay out the door, so if you find a set of tires on tirerack for $400, you still have to pay for tax and shipping (sometimes there's no tax, but you still need shipping), so America's tire will match it + cost of shipping...

So if you go in to America's tire, they will price match + whatever you'd pay for shipping from tirerack, and the best part is that if you do buy from America's tire is that they mount them for free. They'll try to get you to buy insurance for the tires which can get expensive so don't buy the added insurance, it's not worth it since America's tire patches tires for free anyway (if you buy from them).


CLIFF NOTES: Go to www.tirerack.com , find the tire that you want, print out the webpage and bring it in to America's Tire Co and they will do their best to match that price. You end up saving since you don't have to pay $100+ to mount and balance them, that is free if you buy from ATC.

 

Unless you go to the snow regularly, don't buy all season tires. Summer tires are GREAT in the wet, and you'd be amazed at how many people don't know that and buy all season tires for the rainy season. I've had summer tires that outperform all season tires in wet conditions. It's a shame because we have such great handling cars and buying all season tires just lowers the potential performance that a summer tire provides.


The downfall of summer tires is that they suck in the snow because they freeze so easily, but like I said, unless you're actually going to the snow in your car you really don't need all season tires. I know a lot of people that never go to the snow but still buy all season tires because they think summer tires are dangerous in the wet, which is 100% false. My old S03's (Potenza ultra high performance summer tire) were AMAZING in the wet, far better than any all season tire that I've ever tried.
