hey guys, i was just trying to figure out how to set up a projector type thing for my house, to get a cool home theatre setup. i was just wondering if there was anyone here who knew a bit about this kinda stuff, and could point me to the right forums or websites where i could start doing some research, on projectors, speaker systems, screens etc. or if anyone has set up their own, can you suggest to me some components or whatnot? thanks guys!

first and foremost, budget, budget, budget...

give around 40-50% for the projector
25% for the electronics (pre-procs, or just a proc)
25% for the speakers.

if you are doing your own labor, fine. otherwise, expect 20-30% of the budget for labor, if not higher.

if you can swing a weekend in vegas in 3 weeks, CES is happening. you can oogle all the really cool stuff there and drool... drool... drool...

http://www.hometheaterdiscussion.com/index.php has a group buy on a BenQ projector rigth now. They also have great deals on Cobalt cables. It is a pretty small site. They do have some awesome chit though. CHeck out the Onix Rocket loud speakers!!!! Alocate 10-15% of your budget for cables.
