i went thru there about 12:30 that night....and the car was on fire....i was like ehh thats gonna suck so i took the long way around....

then i heard this....that is my moms commute....used to be mine before i finally moved to the south bay ...

i hope that most people who make this commute REMEMBER what it was like when the Nimitz fell in 89..everyone dealt with it and there are alternate routes...yeah it took a long a$$ time to fix it....but we made due and the bay area can handle this.....get over it already hahaha. i cant believe this is national news.

For the commuters: The damaged portion of E-580 will be opening up tomorrow. That was quick. I still prefer BART.

Pretty impresive actually. Impressive enough that the contractor got a 5M bonus on top of their $867,000 bid for finishing so early.

5M??? Damn! But do the individual contractors actually get to touch that 5M? Or the company keeps it?

The company was promised something like $200k/day they finished before a certain date. So their bid was extremely low and they just bet on the idea of finishing early to get the money that a normal bid would be.
