Question Hollister Hills SVRA and Subarus?

So a buddy and I are thinking about heading to Hollister Hills SVRA this weekend to play in the dirt with our Subarus. Anyone have any experience there with Subies? From what I've heard most of the trails are geared more towards lifted 4x4s and dirt bikes.

Yeah... too rough. Brent, the guy who runs NorCal rallyx for us checked them out. It's too rough. Unless they smooth out a huge patch, it's too rough.

Sad, I know, especially for us South Bay'ers

A thread like this pops up every year or two. We went out there back in '03 or thereabouts. It is definitely rough. Our entire group of 6 or 7 cars made it all the way to the top though FWIW. IMHO, it's worth checking out if it's in your backyard, even if you can't have much sideways fun but not really worth a long trip to check out

But that was like rock crawling speeds right? A different fun.

Definitely not "rally" fun though.

i have taken or have been there twice with two diff groups from here.

it is not made for going fast.

there is maybe a few places where is flat enough and you can kinda go fast. you just need to block certain places or else other traffic will get into trouble.

there is also a campground that could be "rented" that is flat enough so if you wanna up a course, while not a gigantgic one, is available:

hollister, ca - Google Maps

I've never been to Hollister but I too have heard it's quite rough as well, but I'm sure you can still find a way to have some fun. If you want to drive up north though Prairie City SVRA is the place to play. While it isn't entirely smooth, I've heard it's more Subaru friendly than Hollister.

Here's a video of the rallycross course I took on May 26th, 2012. If you like what you see, you should definitely come out to the next rallycross event, all cars/drivers are welcome

^ Prairie City is probably the closest OHV that is "rallyishable" in our cars.

Even so, it takes Brent to rent tractors to smooth the stuff out to do rallyxes like above.

You guys should go to rallyx events for the better experience. Brent also always tries to get fun runs in so you'll typically do 8 runs a day.
