Well the AFC connectors for the MAF/MAP wire have male/female connectors on them... so they need connectors from the ECU wiring to plug into. The other wires could be soldered though. I don't understand why everyone is so big on solder though? Why should I solder them? Just curious.

Soldering provides a good bond and strong, low-resistance connection. If you don't have much soldering experience, I'd practice a little bit on scrap cable first. When working with insulated cable (wire) on a vehicle, I also get the soldering gun fairly hot so that I can heat the area fast, not giving the heat time to spread to other nearby components. Keep the heat localized to the joint. I use alligator clip-like heatsinks (Radio Shack) to wick away some of the heat, too.

Sometimes, though, crimp connectors are the only practical means of making a connection if the area is hard to reach, like some areas way up under the dash.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure that the AFC was installed at i-speed previously (on it's old owner's car). Vampire clips were used. I think either will work fine, since the clips are pretty stable inside of those little cases.

$50 to anyone who helps me install the ITC and S-afc, and help route the wiring for the boost and EGT gauges.

Steve,

I replied to your plea in the meet thread. If you want to come by this Saturday, I'd be happy to help you with wiring (and you don't have to pay me $50 either). It's not that hard once you've done it once or twice. I've got a great pair of wire strippers and most anything else you would need. Just bring enough connectors (NAPA is right around the corner, just in case). I'll be helping Lance with his steering rack bushings anyway. Come by anytime after 11am. Call first if it's raining.

Mike

Do you have a wiring diagram for your car so we know what we need to tap into?

Ive got like 40 pages of wiring info about both the S-AFC and the ITC. I think I have just about everything covered, including wiring layouts (and written directions from other people with EJ18's who have S-AFC's and ITC's)
