No the problem statement is "...the Salt Flats" if you have been to Bonneville- you can actually see the curvature of the earth with the naked eye.
OK so the next sentance he says "completely flat" - still...
I will agree that for all practical purposes, the two will hit the ground at the same time, even factoring in the curvature of the earth
Unless the centerline of the bore is pointed downward or upward, not parallel to the ground...

After setting up your rifle so that the centerline of the bore is exactly 36" above and parallel to the ground...which happens to be completely flat.
question: is the rifle setup with a scope?
if yes, is the scope setup to hit a target and then how far is the target from the rifle?
also, how much is the scope base setup for MOA compensating, if any?
finally, what rifle is it?

Don't you mean Point Break? I think you're getting your 90s flicks w/ skydiving scenes all discombobulated, bruddah. Maybe you confused Terminal Velocity w/ Drop Zone. Gary Busey co-starred in the latter as well as Point Break.

You head out to the Salt Flats to do some shooting; 7mm Remington Magnum, 139grain VMax bullet @ 3400 feet/sec.
After setting up your rifle so that the centerline of the bore is exactly 36" above and parallel to the ground...which happens to be completely flat.
Now you set up the test rig which holds an unfired bullet exactly 36" above the ground and will drop said bullet when the fired bullet leaves the muzzle.
Which bullet hits the ground first?
