Hit by a Prius....

So last week I was turning from
to get onto 280 when a white old style Prius (sedan style) cuts in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and I didn't hear anything so I did not think she hit me, and I kept going. When I went out to the car the next morning, I discovered this

Now I am really pissed off at myself for not following her and getting a license number.

Who would you guys recommend to get this repaired and how much do you think something like this would run? It is only the paint that is damaged, the plastic is fine.

I'd say keep it, bumps and bruises is a signature... plus it's the front fender, tell me you don't have rock chips chippin' away already. =P

I was planning on getting a clearbra put over the front fender, hood, and doors, so I would like to get it repaired, plus, it stands out from far away on the white.

Have you tried rubbing compound? That should come right out.

Sorry to hear that... idk what it is but it seems like all the Prius drivers, drive like they own the road, I swear I get in this pissed off/bothered mood anytime they are near.

Sorry for the fellow Prius drivers...

Toyota should rename the Prius to the Locust. I swear I see those things swarming everywhere. Just on the way home the other night on 680 between Pleasanton and San Ramon I spotted 8 different ones all different colors. While I was going to work I was at a stop light in San Ramon and looked left and looked right and saw the exact same White Color 3rd Generation one both in the turn lanes on either side of me looking like book ends.

That sucks about your car getting hit man. I DEFINITELY know what that is like as I have had that happen to me multiple times.

That's a tough one.

Too minute to claim insurance. Not an easy DIY fix.

Due to location, covering it up with a sticker might look awkward & tacky.

Finding a repair shop is relatively easy. Find one that would do quality paint work without digging deep, however, is another story. I'm no expert, but from past dealings; a good shop would use flexing agent for this particular panel, not just match and go.

This type of stuff drives me insane. I'm **** when it comes to my vehicles, so I feel your pain.

I can't wait until they have to figure out what to do with all of the lithium ion bateries (an isotope of uranium)! So Much for 50 Mpg.

I'm by no means a Prius apologist, but your science here is questionable. 50 mpg being a stretch in terms of Prius mileage is a well-known fact, but the lithium in batteries is in no way radioactive as your citation of its relationship to uranium might suggest. The end of life cycle disposal of any battery is certainly something to be concerned with, but not from a nuclear waste perspective. To be sure, we use Li-ion batteries in everything from cell phones to laptops.

All of that said, the Prius and other hybrids are a total scam - until the automobile industry can deliver reliable and affordable full-electric cars, I won't be convinced. Ask anyone who has owned one and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone getting more than 40 mpg in mixed-use driving. Their claimed mileage can really only be achieved at certain speeds under ideal circumstances, and guess what - how many times have you been passed by a Prius doing 80 on the freeway? I rest my case.

This is terrible. My mr2 was totalled by a prius driver running a red light. She apologized for her mistake and then lied to the insurance company saying I ran the red. Complete pain in the ***.

but to answer your question I'm having body work done on my car now. The price was right, but I'll wait till it's done and let you know how it turns out.
