History of i-club and the BA connection

I'm pretty new to i-club and my 06 WRX wagon is my first Subie. And I'm in the south bay.

Now I've heard that this place was "at one time" *THE* Subaru forum to be at. Then something happened and i-club was reborn or something. Also, this seems to have a lot more SF bay area members, relative to the other members.

Can someone summarize the history? Is this the most BA popular forum?

I'm usually on NASIOC, which seems to generally have the most active members of all forums (and the largest range of helpful and friendly to unhelpful and obsessively obnoxious people). ClubWRX.com is nice. WRXforums is great for cobb heads.

Anyways... just wondering.

long story short...

www.impreza-rs.com changed name to www.i-club.com. later i-club split and NASIOC came about. NASIOC kept the forum database, and i-club kept the name and started new.

btw, there is also www.rs25.com

i think another reason the bay area is so strong on i-club, is that many of the leading subaru vendors (subydude, gruppe-s, mpj/speedelement, lic, etc.), as well as imprezer (founder) are nor cal based

This still is *The* Subaru forum to be at.

As far as the bay area goes, there is no other forum greater

I like i-clube better, nasioc seems too jumbled and hard to read, also I don't like the fact that they have vendors as mods(2 of whom happen to be quite shady).

There also seems to be less drama here, don't get me wrong, stupid people get flamed here too.

i-club isn't communist and Alex allows freedom of speech.

I agree that NASIOC seems to have a lot of people who know more, but at the same time, you don't know if a lot of the reviews can be skewed because the mods can delete as they please and ban as they please. I always try and find good reviews and information here first, and then if needed go to NASIOC.

The best thing I love about i-Club is its self moderation...

People are very respectful of each other. Freedom of speech is in its full effect here and even small things like swearing and stuff is totally under self control. Vendors resepct each other, members respect each other. Our mods are our mutual friends and there are no power trips.

I love it...

Now, you are all banned for 8 days and all of you get 97 warning points... lol. jk...

Well, that's all pretty much true - as long as you stay out of the Republican/ex-military dominated Politics forum.
