HID Ballasts

It looks like it is time to get a replacement ballast for my Bugeye JDM Headlights with S2K Retrofits. The Passenger Side ballast seems to no longer work, but the driver's side still functions without issue. It does not seem to be a fuse issue and the light bulbs are brand new with no issues.

From what I can tell these Ichikoh ballasts (apparently Matsu****a Ballasts) seem to be quite an old version as the Matsu****a's are on the Gen V Ballasts now and are far more compact then these units that I currently have.

What I'm trying to determine is what ballasts I should get as replacements? The new version of the Matsu****a's seem to be quite different looking, a bit more expensive and the shells are not Weather Proof. However, these are the OEM units for Subaru.

The other option I am looking at is the Morimoto Ballasts. These look more similar to the older style Matsu****a Ballasts that I currently run. These also are a bit cheaper and look to have weather proof shells.

Morimoto 3Five D2S Ballasts - HID Ballasts from The Retrofit Source

I am currently running the Morimoto XB35 D2S Lights so the guys at The Retrofit Source recommended I go with the Morimoto Ballasts (as they say that the OEM Type Ballasts sometimes have problems firing up the Aftermarket Bulbs, though I'm not sure why that would happen).

What I am trying to figure out is should I stick with the Matsu****a Ballasts or go with the Morimoto Ballasts instead? Are either of them direct Plug & Play or is any type of modification required based on what I am currently running?

There's a problem with that. It's wired through the factory headlight wiring it's not just a bb that holds a d2s connection.

Are they the same ones like the Ichikoh / Matsu****a D2S Ballasts that I have pictured or something else?

You can buy a Nissan Maxima/Altima 01-04 OEM HID Ballast. I had the same problem as you. 1 ballast just wasn't working, so I replaced it and it works just fine now.

You mean this particular ballast right?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/INFINITI-QX4-I30-I35-Q45-NISSAN-MAXIMA-HEADLIGHT-HEAD-LIGHT-XENON-HID-BALLAST-OE-/161244312173?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ANissan%7CModel%3AMaxima&hash=item258ae8f26d&vxp=mtr#vi-ilComp
and not these ballasts?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-OEM-02-03-Nissan-Maxima-Xenon-HID-Headlight-Ballast-Igniter-Control-Unit-/321191496130?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ANissan%7CModel%3AMaxima&hash=item4ac88149c2&vxp=mtr
That's pretty ridiculous to pay something like $170 or more for 1 Used Ballast when I can purchase either Brand New Gen V's or the Morimoto's for less than that 1 used unit costs (which I am not even sure of the condition and if it is working how long it will work for once I get it). I really would prefer not to spend that much for a used unit if I can avoid it, but that seems to be the going rate for those things (at least on eBay and other online places that I am seeing at the moment).
