I really like my "FLOW" bindings, really easy to get in and out of.

verc,
i'll have to agree w/ imprezaboy on clubwrx that a 153 will be a bit short for you if you're 5'10"ish. simply b/c my "all-around" board is a 152 w/ my scrawnny 5'6"-137lb frame.
i don't remember much fr your previous thread w/ all your "nOOb" [like everyone else i've been there myself too
] questions, so give me a refresher on your height & weight, number of seasons riding those 20 or so "rental" days, what terrain you mainly ride, how much you could bear to spend on a setup, etc. that way, i could hopefully give ya a better recommendation.
my first impressions so far on your two choices are:
the k2 is probably gonna be a better board since it is a more reputable company. also the a-star was a decent board a few seasons back. and to answer your ? on which one is the "clicker" binding...this binding by ride uses the clicker step-in system. it's not a bad system. it's really about personal preference, as one will find other step-in systems with more desirable features. the boots look decent, but you definitely wanna make sure they are the proper fit for you.
the newbreed looks like it is at least 3 seasons old, but the binding main & toe straps look to be at least 6 years old. by the time i started riding, there weren't too many non-ratchet type binding straps around. the boots, i'm sad to say, are pretty ancient as well. its lacing system leaves a lot to be desired, since it looks as if you won't be getting much heel-hold within the boot. like i said already, ya wanna a boot that fits your foot well and, of course, that is comfy.
just some background on me...i consider myself a high intermediate/advanced 'boarder who's looking forward to starting my 6th full season where i typically get at least a dozen days per. i worked in a shop for a few months back in winter of 98-99 (el nino, baby!!!) doing basic tunes & whatnot. i mostly do resorts in tahoe or the central sierras(bear valley & dodge ridge), but i've hit up timberline in oregon & snow summit in so cal. i like to ride all kinds of terrain...from blue & black groomers to park to trees and definitely fresh pow, when i'm lucky!
hope this helps.
p.s. it was good to see such a great response fr so many helpful & knowledgeable riders on that thread o' yours a little bit ago.

Thanks a lot guys,
So I'm trying to buy used...
foot size is 9-9.5, I was thinking about just getting new boots though.
I'm 5'9, 140 lbs...the rental boards I had were 152-155 i believe.
Er I guess I'd consider myself into the low intermediate territory, I mean I'm good enough to handle any straight slope, I won't freak out and can turn almost on a dime (well, as fast as I can turn w/o carving knowlege, I mean I can weight shift well)
I tried intermediate moguls, er I failed...
I went back country on the rental board, that failed but I think it was b/c of the board, kept slowing down.
Looking to spend less than 200 for the board and bindings, but I'd really prefer to get boots too more no more than 250.
It's not that I'm poor (ok I am) but I just quit my school year job to focus on academics, and doing some financial planning, I don't think I have enough to pull through to the end of the academic year. Was original budgeting 1000 on a new laptop and 500 on board, but cut both in half.

Thanks,
Ambert

o and,

What's the "binding size" "small" "medium" "large" correspond to in boot size?

verc,
based on what you wrote down about yourself, i recommend sticking with conventional bindings and get a shorter board like a 156 so you have better control. longer boards are harder to control and heavier for newbies. as far as budget goes...keep looking around. check out Zumies (not sure if i spelled that right) they have a package deal for like 250, Tricity...little expensive but check the half price stuff. and as far as binding size you would need a medium (men size of 8-10). good luck, jomel
