Hey smart computer people! Halp! (Router firmware)

So i bought a refurbished netgear wndr3300 router and i want to run dd wrt firmware on it or any other firmware to optimize performance and stability.

I've been reading and researching and everything is just confusing me. By the way I have osx lion and access to xp and vista.

I guess I'm supposed to update to net gear's most recent firmware then load some other crap? I need some super dumbed down instructions to do this. THANKS

What part do you have troubles with. It's pretty straight forward and it's easier than you think

I gave up on low end/home series routers long ago. I am currently running a Sonicwall 2040 pro with the advanced OS in it.

If you get tired of that thing, let me know I might have a spair Sonicwall TZ170 10user that I won't need anymore.
