Not bad actually... You gain top end but lose low end torque... It's soooooooo loud at WOT with a filter attached like that! Way louder than a car with just exhaust and a normal stock intake (meaning that a car with stock exhaust and a filter/throttle body intake is louder than a car with modified exhaust and stock intake).

Yeah, my car achieved this (2000 RS, MAP) by cutting a weapon*R intake pipe so it was only about 3" long and had the vacuum hose attachments on the 3" pipe so I was just able to attach it using a hose clamp straight to the filter and the vacuum hose came out of the side of the 3" metal pipe, which was attached to the throttle body by using a hose clamp and it worked nicely.
Eventually I made a cold air box out of fiberglass that sealed to the hood scoop and surrounded the entire filter so it was like a "ram air" intake, although there was nothing "ram air" about it, it just looked like it... All the box did was allow cold air to hit the filter directly. Rain never did anything to it and I noticed a significant increase in top end however I also noticed a sharp decrease in the low end torque which sucked. So it had it's trade offs.
