i just finished the 2 dvd set (ep 1-6).
is the 7-xxx out yet? in english? i dont like to "read" a movie...
also, what is the deal with the "young" and that older man... is he a perv or something??? that's what i got. or her sugar daddy...

also a word of advice, even though you dont like reading a movie, the japanese version of the series is like 20000000x better then the american .. they cut out a lot of the good stuff in the US release and its goign to get confusing

Im on several groups for initial D discussion. Im going to get a list of all the stuff changed/cut out of the US version.
from what peopel have told me, a lot of the stuff is being changed around because Tokyo Pop thinks the US market will not understand it

There were alot of changes in the translation in the American version. Basically, he is called a "Papa", that is roughly the same as the american sugar daddy. In the translation from Japanese to English, they cut out that he pays about 3k per month to be with her.
Japanese people are naturally light skinned, so they're not making them white, just light. Look at the other anime (Akira, Robotech, Bubble Gum Crisis), they're all light skinned too.
Some other big changes from the Japanese to American version are the music and the dialog. They sound like surfers, and the music they play is horrible. In the Japanese version, it's this cool transe, hectic mix stuff by DJ Mystik. Much better.
The third dvd hasn't been released yet. I don't know about the rules on this forum, but you can get the whole series on p2p sites. In the credits, it says that it's shareware. It says if you paid for it, you got ripped off. That's from the Japanese unedited versions. Unfortunately you have to do some reading, but it's out there.

Off the top of my head, the biggest glaring changes that irk me would be the name changes, and the changing of the music...I mean, c'mon, almost all the music is already in engrish. Is eurobeat just too cliche or something?

I got the Whole set for like 100 bucks online, i foget where. I got Stage 1,2,3, Extra stage and battle stage. Its in Japanese with subtitles, Its not the gay Tokyopop version. Im happy with it.
