Hey guys
I am new to the bay area and the good guys over at NASIOC told me to come over here because there are more bay area people at this site.
I have been saving up for a WRX for quite some time now. I have 10k and I got approved for a 25k loan with 5.5% APR even though I won't borrow that much.
I am looking for a 2004 white 5 speed sedan with the WRX spoiler. I want it to be completely stock because I love to work on cars and I want to build it up myself, plus it teaches me about the car I drive.
I was wondering if you guys could give me some information about were to buy from, what to look for, and anything else you guys think I need to know.
Nice to meet you all
Leon

Best bet is to shop around (goes without saying) try to have someone that is familiar with the WRX go with you when you look at the cars.
If you haven't been around a Subaru before there are a few things that will throw you off...
Specifically the sound of the motor....it's "unusual" to most that haven't had the pleasure
You are in an awesome area as most of the shops that have excellent reputations are a little north of you in Hayward and the surrounding area.
If you get a car, make sure you can get a guarantee where if you aren't satisfied, you can take the car back. This will give you an opportunity to take the car to a shop and have them look it over if you are not 100% sure about the condition.
Good luck and welcome to the i-club

The best advice is this, If your a guy that's gonna mod this car extensively you should start with an STI, they have a stronger transmission, have a great 4-pot caliper set-up as stock and a trick diff. They have a bigger turbo, better HID headlights etc...etc... the STI is a better base car to start from.
I should swap my WRX for an STI.....

just avoid the stevens creek dealership.
Santa Cruz Subaru has the best service hands down(many will agree) so if you can find something there, get it through them.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I will stay away from Steven's Creek. Maybe we should email them to look at this topic so they know that people know they suck. Maybe they will change.
Anyways, here are some replies. Sorry it took me so long I drove my 4runner from the bay area to Las Cruces, NM. I stayed in phoenix along the way but have had an internet connection.
glenspen: my wife's car just got paid off and she said "if you want an STI, get one", so I'm seriously considering getting one....what are we looking at OTD?
Answer: I have 10k cash and loan up too 25k. I am in the market for one right now but it is not a neccesity. My company rents me a car. As far a buying an STi, I want to get into a WRX first so I can learn about turbo motors. I don't want to screw up a 30k car, plus I don't want to pay alot more for insurance.
Again thanks for the welcome. Im sure I will have alot more questions, and if anyone wants to go with me to shop let me know. I don't know alot of people in this area.
