Thumbs up Here's how to make Firefox faster

Here's how to make Firefox faster:
In the address bar, type "about:config" and press enter. Find "network.http.pipelining" and double click it so it's set to true. Under that should be "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests". Double click that and set it to 8 or more. This does not require a reboot to take effect.

I just tried and it made a difference in speed... woot

the firefox pipeline option allows firefox to make a single HTTP connection and request multiple files. The regular setting makes 1 connection for the initial page, then separate connections for each image displayed on the site.
By increasing the the setting for pipelining you are eliminating the number of established TCP connections to a web server, thus making pages with lots of images, or a lot of data load faster.

Slower computers can't handle it. Most more modern ones can.

It puts a lot of stress on the webpage servers though. If everyone threaded dozens of simultaneous downloads sites like i-club.com would buckle under the stress.

It is set low as a courtesy. Not saying that I haven't already done this myself
