Help! Something really bad to my tranny?

So I was coming back home from the Eggettes meet I had earlier. I'm on 280 when I see a CHP behind me and lurking closer and closer, yet still a distance apart. (I've had multiple horrible incidents with the police unfortunately.) I panicked and freaked out because I realized I was going 80 MPH and if I get pulled over, I could end up in jail (on probation... I know! I was stupid before!)
So I started downshifting without braking because I didn't want the cop to know I was going faster than the expected 65 MPH. My brake lights would've been lighted up. Anyways, everything was fine from 5th gear to 4th and high RPMs winded down to lower RPMs. Then I tried putting it into 3rd, but I guess I must've miss-shifted because I realized I heard a really bad grinding noise. I think I got my shifter scraping the 1st gear for a second. However after 1 second of the grinding noise, I quickly put it in neautral and coasted for a bit to make sure everything was ok. (I didn't slam nor force it into gear). Eventually 4th and 5th seemed ok when I went to the nearest exit. Luckily I didn't get pulled over by the CHP.
I ran through all my gears... some at high RPMs.. some at low RPMs. I think it's ok? Nothing noticeable except at one point, I heard a small but short rattling noise.
However, it never came back again and the car seemed fine ever since?
My question is... should I go to a Subaru dealership and let them check it out to make sure? Or is this nothing big at all and happens every so often despite our trannies to be like glass?
I'm thinking of not driving the car until I know for sure if it's ok or not. I can hold off on it...

why didn't you just let it coast in gear instead of downshifting? or downshifting to 4th probably would've done it. Your probably ok, i bet the rattling is in your head. You get a grinding noise when you don't step on the clutch all the way and you try to shift too. It wont let you in 1st gear at those speeds anyways, but if it did, your engine would be f*cked

You're probably right.. I'm overreacting to nothing. I'm glad I didn't screw up the engine.. that's for sure!

if the e-brake did make the rear tail lights go on, they'd be on all the time when you're parked, because normal brakes light up the tail lights when the car is off. But yeah, e-brake is a good way to slow down faster.
