Help! a Question about Electric Exhaust Cutout? (UPDATE)

Sup guys I'm about to order one of these from Badlanz.com. My question is what Dia. Is best for Wrx stock exhaust and stock down pipe. I will be installing this before the cat. The options are 2.5 , 2.25 & 3.0. My friend who has one on his turbo integra says go with 3.0 but idk lol. What yall think I should go with?

I believe stock downpipe is 2.25 so makes sense to match it up since having a 3inch tip isnt going to make your exhaust flow out any faster. all you're doing is adding a turboback without having a turboback really.

I had a 3inch tip on my 3 inch downpipe

in b4 ***** references.

So I went with this bad boy...just waiting for it to show up on my door step.

QTP » Oval Electric Exhaust Cutouts

I may install this after the Cat to be in compliance with CA. state smog. I would really want it from the downpipe if I could. I will post up a vid once I install it.

before cat or else whats the point really and you can swap out the dp every 2 years need be although it shouldnt matter for smogging if its closed. it doesnt modify emission equipment in any way if the cutout isnt open.

Idk for sure but that'll probably not pass visual if the smog techs inspect your car. If they notice even the slightest emmission system mod they'll def go ape**** & fail you, especially that electric exhaust cutout. Just the fact of it being there they'd know exactly what it's used for, Cali is very strict on that stuff remember? You're taking your chance with cops too, if they pull you over & see that **** they'll most likely impound it on the spot, it's pretty illegal from my understanding, not for public road or highway use. It's your call man...

Got me all nervous lol...I also got the plate that covers it with bolts so it basically eliminates the E cutout makin it manual cutout jus incase if it stuck on open lol. I would be scared of state ref imo. I jus got smogged for reg and passed visuals with Bov and catted uppipe But dude was cool. Just trying to decide about placement.

Like i said, not trying to scare ya, it's your call man, whatever floats your boat. I believe any major mod is risky, it's all good until you get caught, just pointing out some stuff to consider in the long run. Good luck, if you do decide to get it!
