HELP: question about BBK and offset on wheels

Shot in the dark here but I'm hoping some of you guys/gals might be able to help me with something - I bought a BBK not too long ago and they work great. But initially, it was a pain in the butt

they didn't just rub, they scraped the inside of the wheels. I took a grinder to the calipers to make them fit. And since I run my car on the track frequently, I'd like to get a second set of wheels - I recently bought one which is +35 offset and they don't fit (I'm selling them now cheap!).

So my question is - what offset do I need with a 17" wheel to make my AEM BBK fit properly? more or less than +35?

and if you're wondering why I need/want 17's - it's because I have 1 set of tires for commuting, 1 set for summer performance, and 6 slicks all in 17" sizes.

and yes, having 14 tires plus other crap sitting around is not making my wife happy ---->

It's about a lot more than just offset, it's relative to spoke design & width. some 17x8 ET40-48 wheels will fit and some won't. Shop for wheels that fit the 04 STi and you'll most likely fit, the stock STi Brembos are pretty wide. Most BBKs come with a PDF template for checking clearance. Did your kit come with one of these? If so, print it out, glue it to a piece of cardboard or a manila folder and take it somewhere they actually have stock and check several designs.

If you call Wheeldude they probably have a pretty good idea what designs will fit and which don't. You likely just need a wider wheel than you have now, but you have to balance the spoke clearance with fitting the width under a rear wagon fender (and likely fitting the tires you have on hand. It's a pain, but this kind of fitment is not cut and dry.

thanks for the help. I guess part of the problem is that AEM was bought out by stoptech and also the reason why I couldn't find any support.

I got it now and will be looking for the 'right' wheels. thanks again
