I bought this used muffler that was painted black. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to take it off.

THINNER!!! that way you get two birds with one stone. know what i'm saying hehehe

OR you can sand blast the motha trucka, it'll be more consistant and it'll definitely take the paint off. but unless you want the sand blasted satin look, you can wet sand that baby and candy it up. im a industrial designer (we make alot of models) at SJSU. we have a booth that'll blast the SOB in no time. holler

Thinner is used while the paint is still wet, and unless it is Lacquer thinner, it will likely have no affect. Use jasco paint stripper for factory urethane type paint or acetone if it is rattle-can paint.

Acetone is also handy to remove graffiti off of cars because it will only strip the wax and rattle-can paint, not the factory finish. Don't try that with Jasco though!!!! =)
