check out http://www.audiocubes.com

they have everything. I have Pioneer clip on earphones. i like them. they look like chrome so my ears are blingin. they apparently no longer sell the model i have there though.

I have Sennheisers also, similar to the ones in your 1st pic. the sound on them is TOP NOTCH. although no way could i use them for portable use.

as far as portability, i'd use earbuds or clip-ons. If earbuds annoy you, u might want to try the earbuds that conform to your ear. Like Etymotics. although those are $$$$. the sound is supposed to be pretty amazing from them. (never tried them myself)

oh ya, and dont buy Victor/JVC earphones. They are tite, but break VERY quickly. I went through 2 pairs in 2-3 years.

i love my sony headphones max, and they look exactly like that but black and cost about the same. i've had them for about... hm... 3-4 years.

i didn't used ot like the earbuds either, but since i got the ipod i have been using them all the time. they really help with the stealth factor for in-class use and are very quiet for other people around you. another cool thing is that you have nothing going over or around your head. i got used to them and actually prefer them now. if they had great sound quality, that would be cool, but for the rock/hardcore/emo i listen to most of the time, you don't need big bass, you know?

i second international B's reccomendation. i've have a set of the MDR-V6s sitting on my desk that i've used for several years and love. short of some of the super hi-fi makers, they're the best headphones i've found.

headphones

I really like this site:
http://headroom.headphone.com/layout.php
it gives lots of headphone info including good specs on each.

I LOVE the sound from the Etymotics in-ear design but they are isolation earphones so you won't hear outside noise. great for airplane or bus travel!

Good luck. I have the Sennheiser HD600 which is pretty much the best **** ever. They retail for 500, but I got em for 250 brand new on ebay a while ago. I haven't heard any headphones that top these. Anyways, the HD500s are good 2.

Grado Labs also makes excellent headphones, some of which are reasonably prices. however, i wouldn't wear them while doing anything active, as they don't stay on too well. i've had a couple of pairs for home listening, and they've been nothing short of incredible. sonys will last longer though.

I guess it depends on the stupid person. I've had mine for 2 years and they've lasted w/o any problems. I'm also talking about the sound quality. They just plain kick *** IMO. The HD600 + headphone amp = audiophile nirvana.
