help looking for a new laptop

So I've been looking for a new laptop these past couple of days, i want something that i can do some gaming like L4D, GTA IV, spec ops the line and assasin creed. But at the same time i want the appearance to be professional, since im going to be taking this laptop to work and school. My price range is under $1000, i'd like the moniter size to be under 16" since i have to carry it around in my bag for most of the day. I also do a lot of editing of photos and videos on photoshop and other softwares.

from my research i've found this one.

so i was wondering if you guys could suggest to me another computer, or if this one is sufficient enough.

thanks in advance guys and let me know if you need more details

Id also look into alienware, there has been a few really good deals on craigslist! I just bought a brand new alienware ivy bridge setup with receipt and all for under 1000!! The laptop can handle Diablo 3 at max settings and same for league of legends at max settings.
This is something similar to what I bought not to long ago

Lenovo business line. Hands down. For that professional look. Love my T520 since they are gonna change the keyboard style on the 530/430 and so forth.

But then it'll get a little pricey lol.

My daughter received this model for her graduation. Sorry, not much to say since she just got it. She loves it for her Facebook games. She's not a gamer but this laptop of hers sure is fast compared to my Toshiba!

Yah, I tried looking into alien ware, but I dont like how heavy and flashy it is.

How is lenovo? I'm kind of hesitant since its a fairly new company to me

@2cam16, grab the computer and try it out I've read on reviews that it can handle Cod and star craft games pretty easily on high detail.

lenovo is fairly good, was previously IBM if i remember correctly. As far as alienware specs go, I believe they are about 6lbs with their 8cell battery

Lol Lenovo/IBM is not a new company or new at what they are doing at all. Ive noticed the crappy quality builds other competitor brands are selling and its very disappointing. Toshiba used to be good, but they fell off quick and I would never own one of their products now. Same with HP lol.

Anyways, I always thought this was amusing. Ill leave this here:

LOL, oh i did not know that they changed names

it seems lenovo has a lot of brownie points, ill definitely be looking into it more. but from a quick glance it seems this is at my range and seems like it would work for me

thanks for all your help guys!
and yes i guess it would be reassuring to know that my computer will be ok if someone poured water on my computer very slowly back and forth on my keyboard

That may stand up to a little water, but will it stand up to an ATV like a Panasonic Toughbook?

or maybe even more extreme like this:

Why dont you get a Cheap Laptop, and then build a custom desktop? Seems more practical to me.

MSI makes some really nice computers but they are a bit over your price.

Also, as has already been stated Lenovo is what was formerly IBM. They decided to make the Lenovo product line to be their Consumer division and target more of the Home Consumer based market instead of using the IBM name which was previously more targeted to the Business Market.

Alienware was bought out by Dell several years back and is now their Gaming Market Division.

No idea if Falcon Northwest is any good anymore, but they used to be one of the standards for the Gaming Market based computers.

i don't really have the time or know-how to build my own laptop :P and my mom had a MSI computer before, and the motherboard and graphics card fried out at around a year and a half. it was the cheaper smaller one tho, so maybe thats why
