Hey everyone,

I tried searching for an answer, but I'm still not quite clear on this. I've done the clear headlight mod on a 04 WRX. I left the amber parking signal bulb in place, but the rest of the headlight is clear. I just moved to SF and need to go for my vehicle registration soon. Does my car need to have a physical amber reflector near the front of the car?

The turn signal flasher flashes a slightly yellowish color, so I think I'm ok there and like I said, the parking lights are still stock amber. I'm really just wondering about the amber reflector.

i removed mine. Im not sure if you actually "need" it though.

As long as your signals/lights are fine, I dont think the police will harrass you

 

The light bulb needs to be amber when it is illuminated. The housing for the turn signals do not need to be amber. If you are worried about the color of your light bulbs check out the sylvania silverstars. They are clear when they are off, and amber when illuminated.

It's a stock 04 from NY. Hopefully won't have any problems... I hope

yeah, but the parking light still IS amber. Does that count? Oh well, I guess I'll just have to go down to the DMV and see what they say.

 

It is against the law if you dont have any reflectors in the front and back of the car...I found that out when I got a fix ticket for no front reflectors..If you are concerned with registration, go to Kragen and get some orange reflectors and stick them on your car...after your done with registration you can take them off...

 

if he's just regestering his car from another state, all he needs is a smog check. we don't have inspections in Cali, just smog checks ever 2 years.

i've never heard of any getting a ticket for a lack of amber reflector in front... but i have heard of ppl getting tickets for lack of amber running (parking) light in front.

 

It doesnt have to be amber but you need reflectors...

anything that reflects will work...I would try Kragen first

 

OK, so I tried Kragen, but they didn't really have anything that I thought would look good, so I went with the reflective tape stuff from eBay.
