HELP!!! Can't get my car to do anything.
Alright, the so-cal isn't helping me any. I have two very big problems one bigger than the other. One is I can't get my sunroof closed, even the manual way. it appears that one of the runners is further back than the other and I can't get them to line up. I think this is the problem. The other is, I just bought some cheap shifter on EBAY. Problem is that it doesn't go in I don't know how to get it into where it needs to be. It doesn't just have the ball at the end, it has it's own whole ball joint. I don't know what to do. Can't get either of them to work. can anyone help???

maybe this will help...
. Pull the console apart. First open up the console door, then gently pull
up on the piece that houses the parking brake. Make sure the parking brake
is pulled up tight.
2. Once the piece is loose, gently un plug the power mirror controller.
3. Unscrew the shift ****, but leave it attached to the shift boot.
4. Gently pull this piece of the console up and off the remaining console.
5. At this point you should see the bare shifter assembly. Unbolt the silver
ring around the shifter assembly. You will not be re-installing this, but
keep it for good measure. Its purpose is for the automatic shifter assembly
to bolt to.
6. Get under the car and unbolt the shifter assembly. There is two bolts
that bolt the rear bracket to the body of the car. One bolt that goes
straight into the transmission through the big bushing. And one bolt/nut
combo that is only reachable by getting your hand above the shift linkage for unattaching the shiftfork arm.
7. Pull the shifter out of the car from inside.
8. Put the new shifter back into place in the reverse order of these
directions.

you have to use a plastic mallet to get the shifter back in. the one you bought from ebay is probably a gigantic pile or shlt. just about anything you find on ebay is a pile of shlt. remember that. please think about working on your car before you start ripping things apart. find a local i-clubber and offer lunch if he'll help you with the install. it's impossible for us to help without seeing what's going on. think about investing in a set of the factory manuals. if you're into working on your car, they are a MUST!!

Thanks for your help, my problem is that this thing I bought had the entire ball joint attached to it. I didn't realize that the original ball joint recepticle was welded to the car. This thing wont work, got the stock shifter back in, had to actually stand and jump on it, but I got it in. Thanks.
