from my experiences shopping around for helmets, i asked a moto shop once, and they compleletly told me, moto helmets are for no more than 2 impacts, because most crashes on a bike is just a slide. in a car u can roll and flip so road race helmets resist more impacts. eg like nascar and f1. so i guess my recommendation would be stick with snell1995 or higher, nasa may require 2000. but find a road race one, like arai or bell.
but then again i may be all wrong. but it seems to make sense to me

Thanks everyone, I was about to go to Oakland and get one from there, but I then went to California's Best, to have Gary Faules look at my wheel and ask him for his advice about the HPDE in general (he recommended it to me and is an instructor). Gary was insanely friendly (as always) and simply lended me his helmet! So now I don't have to go to Oakland, or worry about it yet. However, after this I may still buy one, and now I have a reference. Thanks again for all your help, and thanks for the offer psoper (and advice).
Thanks everyone and see some of you there!

or you can go to wine country motorsports at sears point
they are having a sale now on their helmets (10% off)
and have a range of bell, arai, simpson, omp, etc.
all sa rated and all that good stuph...
i personally would recommend getting a good helmet and wouldn't be so worried about price because if you get one that may not be as comfortable or whatever, you'll just end up buying another one later....
