hahaha, well, some people may not like the flare look, and some people may not be able to afford the bodywork involved with a flare. as for the 255 on 9.5, i'm not sure how you like your setup... but i think 255 (depending on the tire make of course) is actually pretty good for 9.5 wide wheels. what do you feel would be the best size to run?

You should tell that to the STU auto-x guys that run 245s on 9.5 and even 10" wide rims.

I have 9" wide rims and only run 255s, at certain point for your cars given setup going wider doesn't help, but running a wider rim can help by reducing sidewall flex and improving turn-in and such.

i just laugh when i see 235...

a
255 on 8" width with a tall sidewall will make a faster time than a
235 on 9.5" width short sidewall ... thats just a wild guess.

but ok ok i'll start thinking with the i-have-a-turbo-mindset, so i guess i'd go a bit wider myself, but wouldnt keep the same width tire. thats too ricer for me

Just out of curiocity, do you mean by a 255 on 8" will have a faster lap time than 235 on a 9.5 and basing that off the sidewall?

i dont know, maybe...you have to excuse my lack of sleep, i just got done with finals.

i realize wheel width is more than allowing more room for a wider tire, but what good is a wider rim when you only have 235 to the ground? i break loose all the time in my RS with 225's.

im just saying instead of 9.5...get a 8.5 which will allow a wider tire.

i think you are correct on the contact patch idea to a certain point. Wider is what most people want to go for, but lets not forget that some cars from Japan only run 235 or even 245.

how's your alignment settings? you may want to run something a bit more aggressive. does it break out only when you make a left or right turn?

im -1.5 all around, the rear breaks out, which is fun when im running 205's but when i put on my 225's i want it to stick but its just my swaybar, im not going to adjust it because i need all the oversteer i can get. I dont race faster than 50 mph usually so i dont mind scrubbing away my speed in the fast corners to benefit the slower stuff.

hmm... ok well i'm just saying that alignment is a big part of how your car handles, as well as making sure your car is properly corner balanced.

(We will be doing that very soon!)
