yeah seriously, god forbid a looming potential global pandemic is cause for anyone to think maybe we should have national healthcare like most other industrialized countries.

You're right, you make an even better point. The government should nanny us from birth and take care of our every need...

And I'm pretty sure that I can vouch for the number of times I write MediCare/MediCal numbers on our ambulance billing forms vs the number of times I write actual insurance companies is about 10 to 1...

I'd say that of the patients I come in contact with, about 90% of them do not have any insurrance and they're hospital visit (of which 95% are bull) is fully paid for by you and I.

If they had to pay for a trip to the hospital to refill a prescription of pain killers, then they wouldn't go. If they had to pay for a trip to the hospital for 95% of the time they go, they wouldn't go...

If you want to have a socialist country then buy a ticket and bounce from the U S of A, where the diligent prosper and everyone has the right to the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.

In the land of the free, the government does not provide health care... And I'd prefer not to be like the UK or Canada thank you

We have seen the government scream "EMERGENCY" too many times in the past 100 days in order to do things that it could not have done without an "emergency."

EMERGENCY!!! Pass a $787 billion dollar bill!! QUICK!!!
EMERGENCY!!! Pass a 1,000+ Page Stimulus Bill w/o reading it... don't read it!!! There's no time!!! Pass it!!
EMERGENCY!!! Take control of GM or it will FAIL!!! IT CANT FAIL!!!
EMERGENCY!!! The President CAN FIRE Private Company Executives!!!
EMERGENCY!!! EMERGENCY!!! EMERGENCY!!! EMERGENCY!!! EMERGENCY!!!

What's next?

EMERGENCY!!! Pass Socialized Health Care, we have a pandemic!

Could the government have taken over GM and the hundreds of other companies it has bought into without screaming emergency???

Could the government have passed a 1,000+ page bill without ANYONE reading it???

Could the President fire individuals from private companies prior to these emergencies???

as I recall, the shouts of EMERGENCY and the shoveling of trillions of dollars to criminals started well more than 100 days ago, try last August and September... I can't argue against anyone pointing out that that crap continues, but let's not pretend the mess we are in began on Jan 20.

And if the ratio of state insurance to private insurance is already 10-1, why should we as a nation continue to shovel money at the private insurance companies? when push comes to shove most of them wind up denying coverage anyway!

I'm not saying Canada's system is the best, but ours sure isn't anymore, although it is the most expensive in the world, anyone who has been anywhere else knows our health care in this country could be a lot better than it is in terms of quality of care.

But if we can just get that 90% of freeloading poor folks to just die of the flu, all our problems will be solved!

The Director-General of the WHO has raised the level of influenza pandemic alert to phase 5 on Wednesday, April 29. Phase 5 is characterized by the WHO as follows:

Phase 5 is characterized by human-to-human spread of the virus into at least two countries in one WHO region. While most countries will not be affected at this stage, the declaration of Phase 5 is a strong signal that a pandemic is imminent and that the time to finalize the organization, communication, and implementation of the planned mitigation measures is short.

Experts are advising that, with the widespread presence of the virus, containment of the outbreak is not feasible. The current focus should be on mitigation measures.

More information on WHO phases is available at: http://www.who.int/csr/disease/avian.../en/index.html

Pandemics have the potential to affect infrastructure as the potential for workforce reduction increases.

Pretty sure the government spends more on the free loaders than they do to the insurance companies of those that have benefits and pay for their insurance.

Answer me this:

What is a jobless person's motivation to get a job and pay for themselves when they get welfare, then tax return rebates on taxes they didn't even pay, and all the health care that they could possibly imagine 1 phone call and 5 minutes away?

Now you tell me.....

BTW...for those of you too young to remember:

Swine flu 'debacle' of 1976 is recalled

Cliff Notes:

The vaccine killed more than the "epidemic".

OMFG STFU ABOUT THE STUPID PIG FLU ALREADY!!!!!!

A few of the hospitals in Contra Costa County are INUNDATED by people with FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS swearing that they have the damn thing. They had to set up the same disaster tents that they use to triage in MASS DISASTERS and there's still only one or two confirmed cases and no deaths in CA!

If you're sick.. STAY HOME! Follow the CDC guideline I posted.

lol that craze is likely to increase exponentially especially with all the coverage and WHO upping it to a 5/6 Pandemic Likeliness....

We are just talking about it and staying updated on it. We aren't telling people to go to hospitals or to be paranoid, just staying informed code3homie.
