Headlight opinions.

Okay,

So I MAY have convinced the wife that I might need new headlights for "safety purposes".

I think I've narrowed it down. Should I go EDM's or Ociari's? I like the look of the EDM's better, but I've been told the Hella units in the Ociari's throw better light. I'm leaning toward the Ociari's just because they would be easier/cheaper to replace should they get cracked...

Damn you Marc for starting all this. Impala beat me to your Ociari's...

Sorry bout that

Obviously, you know what my vote would be. If you do manage to destroy one of the Hellas, the projectors are approx $110 each thru rallylights.com.

Optional would be you could use the new Hella H9 DOT pattern projectors from the same place. The H9s are a brighter bulb (about 20-30%), and beam pattern is similar to the ECE pattern of the H7 Hellas. Upside is that the 90mm H9 Hella projectors are only $60 each from the same place!

Link to all of the 90mm Hella Projectors

A friend of mine up in Seattle is about to come out with aftermarket capsules for my other car, the 94-96 Chevy Impala SS. Believe it or not, there are ZERO aftermarket capsules available for that car (there used to be available the "Euro Spec" T84 capsules from GM.......I have a set of the T84s, but the T84s have been unavailable for a few years now)! He is using 4 of the new H9 Hellas, in the capsules for the Impala, and from seeing them (last weekend) on his car I can tell you they throw out one VERY impressive beam pattern.

Fingerpointing, are we? Haha.

I'll be no help at all and say "I like both those lights you listed." Haven't seen the :donkey: lights yet though.

More fun of the Hella 90mm H9s is that the projector is the same as the HID 90mm setup, the difference is the mounting base. Also H9 bulb is the exact same focal length as a D2S bulb. Grind a notch for the return wire, rig a retention mechanism and you get this.

yeah I know the driver side was off camber, I guess I'm not the best DIY'er. these were Hella 90mm H9 projectors retrofitted in aftermarket projector housings with 85123 bulbs and LVQ-212 ballasts.

I've had EDM's for about 2 years now.... they rock. I drive up a dark, twisty mountain road every day on my way to work before the sun is up and don't need to use high beams at all. They throw a lot of light over a loooong distance as well.

I can't comment on the other's as I've only personally used the stock headlights and the STI EDMs.
