have a problem

Changed my fuel pump, car idled around 100 rpm then it went back to normal after about 5-10 minutes of idling when i rev the engine the rpms go below 500 then bounce back up. oh yeah and when I turned on the car I had a CEL my cruise control light was blinking. I scanned and cleared the code it was a fuel temp sensor cel. whats wrong?

those are symptoms of a bad fuel pump.. Is it out of the box new? Do you still have the old one? I would change it back for testing. did you change anything else out while doing the fuel pump swap? what kind of pump is it?

This is what I was thinking too, or damaged the cable going to it, perhaps the connection.

The idle seems to be sorting itself out or maybe its just in my head, but also the CEL has not came back yet since I cleared it, it has been about 20 miles only but, I'll see if it comes back, is it harmful at all to drive around like this?

my buddy took it off his wrx and we were just testing it in my car to see if the fuel pump was his problem because his car isn't turning on at all, just cranks and cranks and cranks for days. the fuel pump was still good. I got the same CEL with both aftermarket and when I put my stock one back on.
