I' mnot going to say that fast food burgers are the sh*t, but I do like them for what they are.

I'll always have special places in my stomach for the western bacon cheeseburger and bacon ultimate cheeseburger.

Red robin burgers are really good other than that, go to one of those burger joints. I actually went to bobs giant burger here in Fremont and for 5 bucks, the food wasn't bad at all.

Shagon,
Since you're a married guy possibly you own a food processor?

Make these just once at home and you'll never want any other burger again...

I gave out this recipe a while back, and got some flack for it. But, I agree, those are the best burgers anywhere. I don't even grind my own meat - just use 50% sirloin and 50% chuck, and loosely form my own (thick) patties. Definitely try it with the mayo/pepper, and nothing else - it tastes so beefy that you may never want any other "toppings" again.

I agree, if I spent more than $1 on a burger it would be at a Red Robin or something with some gourmet burger. I forgot the last time I ate at a fast food chain, so it has been a while since I've been there... fast food will just plain KILL you. LoL

Meh, I'd hardly call Red Robin "gourmet." It seems like Red Robin cares more about the # of toppings than the quality of the actual beef patty. IMO, a burger should taste like beef. All other flavors should play second fiddle to beef. If a burger doesn't taste beefy, then it doesn't matter how much cheese, bacon, guacamole, jalapenos, pineapple, etc., it is still, to me, a crappy burger.

The best burger needs really only a cakepan bun and no toppings (IMHO). Of course I would never turn down some nice bacon...

Their beef tastes better than almost all the beef I've eaten at fast food chains, which is why I suggested them. There are a few other shops that have great paddies. I believe Red Robin doesn't actually freeze them, but keeps them pretty cool, makes a difference. Maybe that's why I feel like the beef is soft and not a typical burger.

Have you tried the Counter in Santana Row or Palo Alto? Some of the best restaurant burgers imo.
