Hardtop stolen :(
Came out to my daily driver Miata this morning to find that some waste of life had busted out the window and stolen my hardtop. It was locked down with a bike cable lock, but they got through that pretty quick I guess. Car was parked right outside my house, but I didn't hear a thing last night.
I really want to catch these guys if I can, so I'll be checking craigslist, miata.net and clubroadster for leads. If anyone sees or hears anything about a hardtop for sale, I'd appreciate a heads-up. It's a factory hardtop, spraypainted black with no defroster. I know most of these get put on Spec racers, but you never know. Thanks everyone.

Am I just being suspicious, or is this actually...suspicious? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/381509552.html
Posted at 9 a.m., I assume a couple hours after my hardtop is stolen. Miles away (I.m in SF, they're in Antioch), but with a fresh coat of primer. Maybe I'm being paranoid...

Damn, there are a bunch of other parts laying around in the back. Can we say chopshop! I feel for you, we work hard for our toys and some D*$k weeds go out and just rip them off!
Good luck!
Good luck!
is there any unique marks on the window or on the inside? maybe ask to see it before you buy? make sure you don't go in your ride of course.
and have your buddy ready to call the cop once you know it's yours.
or you can ask him couple of simple questions about the history of it and have couple of your friends call as well ask similar questions (don't ask exactly the same questions). maybe a series of 10 questions and only 5 are the same from friend to friend. If it's really his, the answer should be very consistent and sound confident.
good luck!

my car got broken into last night too, nothing broken (frameless door) and only a maglight stolen...the idiots left my best buy and target gift cards!
sorry to hear, i have a miata too, those hardtops are expensive but should be easy to find because of the spraypainted black thing.

There are a couple things that are unique to the my hardtop. I drilled a hole in the passenger side tab on the inside of the rear window to allow me to attach the cable lock. There's also a significant sized chip on the top that would need a bit of bondo to cover up. I'll drop this guy an email. Anyone here in the Antioch area?
it didn't even hit me international B might thought it was a land line.
I haven't given out my land line number for like, actually, never!
Only reason I have a land line is for DSL.
anyway... YES, pay him a visit! Even if he is not the guy then you just found yourself a potential seller to replace your old one anyway.
there you go! Good luck!

Called the guy and everything he said seemed to indicate the hardtop is really his (had good answers for my questions, no slip ups). I may still go check it out tonight though.
