Is that the Kincaids parking lot? Glad the bystanders got the bi*ch. Was she drunk or just plain stoopid?

Good luck with it all.

It sounds like yes. Damn - this really sucks. And the insult to injury is she is probably out there driving around right now and will do it again. Police won't respond to an actual problem where they could actually make a difference. But just watch when I go 10 over on my drive into work this morning... Too bad they don't have deadbeat detectors that they can just point at people and... Ok. Done now.

it should have been reported as a "drunk and disorderly". That would have prompted the cops to come out quick. Once they are there, I think they need to take a report.

What was she doing to hit you that hard in a parking lot? She pushed your car clear out of it's space? A bumper pucker or door ding I understand.... but WTF? :O

Glad someone caught her.

Sorry to see your car like that man. What a bummer. This is an example of why uninsured motorist coverage is mostly mandatory in California. I would guess that a lot of all hit and run collisions are done by unlicensed or suspended drivers.

The police won't come out for non injury collisions in a LOT of towns now. Collision reports actually take a decent amount of time, and a lot of departments simply don't have the resources.

In reality though, what does a police report do in a situation like this? Police reports are supposed to be "a statement of fact." Did a police officer see the collision occur? That is the reason why it's not generally necessary for the police to respond to a collision. The involved parties just tell their side of the story, and the officer writes that into a report. They weren't there to see who had the green light, or who was driving too fast in the parking lot.

Take good photographs and have insurance that doesn't have a business model built around bilking their own customers and you're good. With most police agencies for something like this you do what is called a Counter Report. You go to the PD and report it at their front counter if your insurance really wants a report.

Most people with shady insurance end up having to pay their deductible, because a lot of scammers wrap their cars around trees and say someone hit them in a parking lot. It sucks, but you really are paying the price for other people taking advantage of insurance companies. I hate insurance

i had a police report on a minor fender bender, the cop mixed up our cars... and a lot of info for that matter on the report and it was useless.

welp, update if anyone's interested.

The car isn't totaled. framed is okay.

I just got back from the shop. The front and rear bumpers were off getting sanded down for respray. The whole left side of the is minus the front fender was replaced with new parts. Yay and boo...

YAY FOR NEW OEM PARTS with fresh paint (i thank my shop for that... as my insurance company was going to go and give me aftermarket and salvaged parts)... and the wheels on that side are being sent out to be refinished. bye bye curb rash.

BOO for being without the car for another week or so.

Next, get the car back and hope my insurance company gets the other insurance company to pay up.

So glad your car will live to see another day. When I initially saw the damage I thought your car was finished. Being without it for a couple weeks is nothing compared to not having it at all.
