since when did good video cards get so expensive? one of the better cards when halflife 1 was out was a geforce 2 and that was about 150 bucks and ran things perfectly. now they're 350 bones for the good stuff. high-end computers are as expensive as cars to modify now

I bought it when they let you play CS:S,and end up i'm putting a lot of strees on my video card, like overheating, chopping frame rate etc. So far,i can only play office map w/o crashing the computer T_T

like thebankman said,HL2 does need a decent video card.but i would rather put that money to buy some stuff for my car =P

You can get a decent GeForce FX for $150 or less right now, and that would be plenty enough for HL2

I wanna get HL2 but I'm not sure my laptop will be able to run it Anyone know if I can upgrade the graphics card on a Dell inspiron 8200? I've got a 64mb GeForce 440 go that I got with it, but it wasn't enough for Pandora Tommorow, so will it be enough for HL2? thanks

That was the most god awful flash animation I have ever seen. My head hurts...

Edit - No, you can't change the video card on your Dell laptop. The only laptops I know that allow you to switch around some cards are the Alienware and some other random company that I can't recall at the moment. Just sell off your dell and build a computer for $800 . I'll build it for you!

If I could get a better laptop for 800 I'd do it. However, my school requires you have a laptop, so my dad bought me the best available ~2 years ago. It works great, better than our desktop, and I love that I can take it with me everywhere. That 800 was for a desktop right? could you really build one thats that good for 800??? Thanx

man... i can't even belive how insane half-life 2 is going to be, plus all the mods (ex. counter-strike)... freaking like 4 years in the making- says to be the best single/multiplayer game EVER! i doubt it will make sales like halo... but we will see once i get my copy ! i played the counter-stike source beta and i like **** my pants while playing it, it's crazy stuff. hopefully my athlon 2400+ and radeon 9800 pro,512ddr ram, will handle it(hate ati),

if you own/played it give some reviews!

I need a computer mucho bad man. My p3 died....it was crap anyways.

I need something fast but not insane. Don't need a keyboard, mouse, monitor..none of that crap..just a pc.

You think I could do alright for like 5-600 bucks?
