To the guy who owned my STI before me
I think buying used is the way to go but my personal preference is buying from a private party, not the dealership. This way you can ask questions and get a feel for how the original owner took care of the car, like maintenance and stuff. I cant trust the dealer, hes a salesman and a salesman wont tell you what you want to hear. "Yeah the car was owned by a 50yr old who never redlined it!" Seriously, no salesman is going to tell you it used to belong to a punk kid who couldn't make the payments!
Sure there are little things that may annoy you but saving $10k+ buying used certainly makes up for it

Personally the only used WRX/STI or EVO I'd buy is a fully modded one where a guy put like 30, 40, 50k worth of mods into it at a major shop.
Cause thing is, nobody puts in 50 grand into a car and doesn't do a nice job or care about the build.
On the other hand, buy a "bone stock" car more chances are the owner didn't get a flying FK then a heavily modded one when you can tell the owner has technical knowledge and really cared about the vehicle (and isn't a dumb kid with an inheritance for example)

True true, I bought my bugeye "bone stock," and was promised that it had never been modified before. When I took it in to have a turbo back exhaust system put in, I was informed that the previous owner did not put the stock dp back on correctly, and that I had a catless aftermarket up pipe in there. Over time, as I started to put more parts in there, I learned that much of the car had been swapped in and out. Luckily, she runs like a dream 3 years and 50,000+ miles later.
shouldn't have bought an 04. I've never been in an 04 that did'nt feel totally abused, maybe a little bit because ppl who bought 04's were faint of heart as much, and there was less of them. Hard to say.......but if she drives nice !
