Let the pissing contests about who's family is more spoiled BEGIN!

FYI, I only get enough each year to pay for a tank of gas. There's even people who get nothing, believe it or not.

lol i swear when i was younger i'd get hundreds.. now i'm lucky to get enough for gas... :/ maybe when I was younger it felt like a lot more...

same here (got enough for about a tank of gas), i'm not complaining though.

Hey, it's around the same time as our tax returns if you filed during the first wave, so hooray for positive income (tax return, not really...but you get what I mean)!

yep. I got my tax return today. Also got paid today! Great way to start of the new year Also going to vegas next week so hopefully everything works out

I might actually owe some, so bye bye tank of gas money .

On another note, the only thing i dislike about Chinese new year is that duck/pork will be dinner for the next week or more (from bai sun or however you romanize it). I'm going to turn into a duck.

It's steamed chicken and roasted pork here (that's our version of lechon). I didn't know it was tradition/superstitious to eat the pork cracklin'! It's supposed to symbolize healthy skin.

Oh, i never knew that. I just know that we always get roasted pork, never knew the reasoning behind it.
There are too many superstitions, i don't bother to follow most of them. You aren't supposed to wash your hair on new years day apparently (?).
