can someone tell me where to buy .308 rounds in the Bay at a decent price? Ordering them from Yukoslavia is cheaper than the local ammo store.

Thanks

there's a gun show coming up in cow palace sometime this month.

google "miwall ammo" and their booth is usually big and people get there early on the first day and grab everything. especially with nobama getting elected. people are panic buying.

you can modify some guns more than others. ive heard nothing but great things from out the box savage's

the price point on the gun is really nice, as well as for the guy who wants to tinker....the savage accutrigger is pretty cool.

get the SU16CA version, it has a threaded barrel (good for muzzle break, flash hiders are not legal in cali but they do fit on the this model as well) and site is metal, where as that one is plastic; not good for break it down and hiking with it.

*and yes its cali legal..I own it The non cali legal ones will fire in the collapased position

The Savage with the AccuTrigger is nice, I like the Remmy 700 more because of the aftermarket support for them. Still the Savage is a great out of the box rifle and in .308 you should have no problem taking out a boar or varmint for that matter.

I initially thought you were looking for more of a varmint gun, I was gonna say go for a .17HMR instead but it will not work for wild boar that great. Might end up getting struck by the boar before you even get a chance to kill it.

How much of a budget are you working with too? You can build up an AR10 which is a .308/7.62X51 round shooting AR. Good for shooting targets and occasional boar or varmint as well But those run an easy $1,200 to $1,500 or so for a decent set-up in todays market.

Since others recommended the Kel-Tec in 5.56/.223 why not a Saiga in .308/7.62X51 then? Those are similar to the Kel-Tec but not deemed hunting rifles. I know, I know I just opened up a can of what if's for you

Good luck and happy shooting

The tikka T3 is a great hunting gun, the Tikka is the entry level line offered by Beretta. If it was me I would step up into the Sako and would also recommend .308 for larger game or .270 for a more universal round. Either way these options will be great as they are all a product of Beretta.

Another great rifle is FNH (but these are a tactical line).

A .17HMR is a great round for varmits, as well as the 17 Fireball....another awesome round.

I still like my Savage
