GST Motorsports clean sweeps RTA R6 Willow Springs, CA
GST Motorsports takes 1st place in Super Modified AWD, 1st place overall and 1st place in the Super Session at Willow Springs Raceway, Rosamond, CA 7/4/2010
Willow Springs Raceway, CA, 07/04/2010 – The GST Motorsports Time Attack Racing Team secured first place in Super Modified AWD class at the same time claiming the overall win with the fastest time of the weekend just 3 tenths off of the AWD record set last year by Sierra Sierra Enterprises, the Impreza L time of 1:20.759 was good enough in the searing heat of the Palmdale desert area. At the end of the day the team of GST Motorsports and their hot shoe driver the G-Stig were also able to hold off the challenge of the formidable Cobb Motorsports GTR in the super session allowing GST to clean sweep the weekend!
"The entire crew has worked very hard on the back of the engine issues we encountered at Fontana", said G-Stig, driver of the GST Time Attack Subaru L. "With the motor working flawlessly all weekend it allowed us to start concentrating on the handling aspect of the car, we’re getting close and I look forward to testing the changes the team are making to the chassis and aero for the Pahrump event."
Mike Warfield, owner and engine tuner of GST Motorsports, had this to say about the team’s event; “The new engine internals from Brian Crower really did the trick for us this past weekend, the motor ran strongly all weekend and we’re confident we have the power plant in place now to start pushing things that much harder. We have always had fantastic grip from the Hankook Ventus 214 C91’s and now we’re going to start pushing the chassis and aero that much harder, The win this weekend was attributed to the reliability of the power plant in the extreme heat coupled with the tires ability to maintain constant grip levels throughout our sessions!”
