Gruppe-S question

since Gruppe-S has a dyno, do they do cam timing changes as well? how much does this sort of tuning cost?

Cam timing is usually done by installing a pre-fabricated cam from another shop. I think JUN and some other companies make WRX cams.

I doubt they would be able to machine you one to your specs. If they can, it would probably cost a fortune.

*edit* are you talking about AVCS or something?

no. i have an EJ18, and all of my experience comes from tuning my old Neon ACR. the cams were stock, but the timing was changed to provide a little more low end grunt. i thought i might be able to do this on the sttock cams in my sube, but i think im wrong. they dont even make cams for the EJ18, unless i could use the TWE's or Cobb's.

We could install either of the above for you if you so desire, to be honest there may be better ways to spend your money as this sort of thing is not too cheap to do.

Wouldn't a call directly to Gruppe-S get a faster answer?

Yes I know that Mike is at Gruppe-S, so a direct call or PM would work. Perhaps the question and info is interesting to all of us here??

so a cam designed to work in an EJ25 ( sohc ) will work in my EJ18, w/out any problems?

what er are going to tell you is that if you want to make any power you should go with a 2.0 swap..

you could easily spend a ****load more to make a 1.8 or even a 2.5na motor ALMOST as powerful as a barely tuned ej20..

just save and do a swap.
