its illegal because you will bet catless by puttin in those up and down pipes
i have both pipes in my 03 and im saving my $ for the greddy evo exhaust
if your puttin on the down pipe, might as well put the UP pipe on as wel because you haev to remove teh down pipe to get to the up pipe. and the catback is hella easy to put on, you can put it on anytime
hope this helps

anything that gets rid of a cat is illegal, but a lot of people do it anyways...

Theres no precat in the STi up-pipe, just a straight shot to the turbo. Eliminating this pre-cat in the regular wrx is why they use aftermarket up-pipes so theres no real reason to get an up-pipe for your STi.
