Talking Great thanks goes out to LIC Motorsports.....

So I was up in sacramento two days ago and found coolent on my front spliter.

I was like WTF.....
Popped the hood.... 1st look nothing... But it was a nice puddle.. So I knew it was somewhere. So I fire the car up and start to see pin hole type leak. So I am now three days out from my Las Vegas trip and now a problem.

So I call up the great guys at LIC... Let them know what the story is and like a fine tuned machine.. He have two types of radiators in stock, What do you want to do....

Well turns I got busy and couldnt get back to them till late today. So I call them up and ask what time they are leaving... "6 pm or So" I hear back across the phone.
So I hop in the nissan and head north.. About 5pm.... So I get to the shop and 6:15 pm... These guys where hanging out around the shop glad to sell me a nice Koyo unit. Adam even walks me thru the install before I left...

I took it home and the new shift **** and installed the Koyo Radiator in about an hour time. Bleed the system and test drive it. Works like a charm...

But I'd like to say thanks to Noah and Adam for taking a few minutes of their evening to help get me the right parts to get me back on the road and on my trip in the morning. Its a very exciting trip and will post details up later about it. I'm just so glad to be able to bring my car along. As my car is a huge part of my loser life... lol

Thanks again LIC Motorsports.

If anyone has not... Its well worth the drive to Novato to vist them and see what sets them apart from the rest in the bay areas subaru service shops. I learned this and now only trust them with all my cars parts and service needs.
Well worth the drive from Walnut Creek to Novato....

Also I have a light weight 5spd black STi delrin shift **** for sale. Like new $50
I replaced it with the same **** but for the 6spd today.

I am curious, why didn't you just fix the leak? 10 minutes at a radiator shop would have had it in tip top shape again.

That said I have heard nothing but good things about LIC.

No problem Michael, no need to thank us...its my job to take care of customers.

in regards to why he didn't fix the old unit, First- his setup warrants a large capacity radiator and Second- I would assume the deal on that 2002 WRX Koyo was too good to pass up...luckily we had a customer who had less than 3k or so miles on that and he wanted to get rid of it. Someone else's loss, someone else's gain!

glad to hear it all worked out

Depends on where the leak is. If it's at the tanks itself since they're all crimped on it's a pain to make sure it's crimped correctly again and will leak sometimes. If it's on one of the rows of the core itself it's also kind of a waste to attemp to repair aluminum cores. While working as a tech support agent for a national radiator company and working directly with vendors/shops its was a common occurance to see a "repair" fail soon if not down the road. Most customers purchased a new radiator to avoid this issue. You could get by on a fix if you need to, but the best bet is to usually buy a new radiator whether it be a OEM replacement or all aluminum racing radiator like Michael purchased.

btw - wow did I just have a flash back to my previous job

Cost of radiator < damage from overheated engine.

Did you see that Mythbusters episode about cracking an egg into a leaking radiator to stop the leak?
