Talking GREAT news for all kalifornia GUN owners...

4-20-09 will mean something else for all of us LAW abiding gun owners.

the 9th circuit court had to rule:

We must decide whether the Second Amendment prohibits
a local government from regulating gun possession on its
property.
the nordykes back in the late 80s were prohibited by alameda county from doing their gun shows on county property.

the court ruled against the nordykes, but in their decision ruled something else that the rest of the country has had. that the 2nd amendment is alive and well. and is the rule of the nation:

the rights secured by the Second Amendment are
“deeply rooted in this Nation’s history and tradition,” and
“necessary to the Anglo-American regime of ordered liberty.”
The salient policies underlying the protection of the right to
bear arms are of inestimable importance. The right to bear
arms is a bulwark against external invasion....

We recently saw in the case of the terrorist
attack on Mumbai that terrorists may enter a country
covertly by ocean routes, landing in small craft and then
assembling to wreak havoc. That we have a lawfully armed
populace adds a measure of security for all of us and makes
it less likely that a band of terrorists could make headway in
an attack on any community before more professional forces
arrived.

well, the planned shoot at panoche kinda got shelved...

plus now that panoche is closed to car traffic (although you can still walk to the site...) until fall 2009 when it's less of a fire hazard.

So you can still park at the main gate and then walk inside? How far is it to the site?

I believe you can drive in all the way to the top of the hill then trek in by foot or bike. Just no gas powered vehicles allowed besides Rangers, there is one nice little spot that has a turn out about 1/2 mile in if you want to shoot there. Or you can just shoot from the top of the hill, up to you. I hope I did not get my info wrong because it would hella suck walking up all that hill trying to get to the top of the hill with a 50 pound pack on your back.
