Great..another scratch/dent..questions..

So I come home from Davis and I take a look at my car and there this scratch on the passenger door! arrghhhahhrhrhh

Question...it doesn't look like my paint chipped off, looks like the other guy's, can I put something on it to clean his paint off? Like paint thinner or some...anything to remove it? Also theres a tiny little dent barely noticable but if you look at it from an angle you can see it's lumped in a little, would pulling it fix it? When's the next dent day =D

I still need to get THIS fixed..gotta replace my whole feeeeender.

Yeah, I was hoping to find a used silver fender because it'll be cheaper by ..a lot, but I haven't found one. I'm just gonna buy one from the dealership 180, install it myself (hopefully I can), and get it painted from a shop which will cost like another 200. I'm gonna have to save up first. The little dent I can probably fix for less than 30 hopefully.

do NOT put paint thinner, you'll just take away your PSM color. I know a guy who bought a Miata for really cheap cuz the guy's car got vandalized and he tried to get spray paint off with paint thinner and fuxed up his paintjob.

Crap, what can I use to rub it off. I remember when I worked at this rental car place, one of their new cars got hit, and it looked pretty bad but it was the other car's paint, and one of the guys put sometihng on it and took off the other car's paint but kept the car's own paint. It didn't look as bad, only like a few inch scratch. I wonder what he put on the car..

rubbing compound...use sparingly as it is a very mild abrasive, but will take the OTHER cars paint of yours

I would start with the basics. Have you tried to clay bar it?

yeah you can find it at any auto store that sells wax and what not... if its car paint from someone's car, u can prob just buff it off with wax or a fine/mild rubbing compound, try srcatching it abit with ur finger nail (but not too hard that u scratch ur paint) if clay and rubbing compound doesn't work, u might wanna try wet sanding the spot with 2000grit sand paper then fallow that up with buffing with a rubing compound then wax

but that looks more like a scratch, not paint from another car... in that case u might beable to wet sand it (if its not too deep) or u might have to repaint that

Any Autozone etc should have claybars. This girl I knew in highschool rubbed her mom's 745 along the side of a house leaving a large line of paint down the car. Clay bar took it right off.

I also thought it looked like a scratch at first. If that is the case buy some scratch remover, the white lines will buff out. Autozone should have that too. FYI if you're not familiar with car detailing etc I would stay away from sanding or any rubbing compounds.

yea looks like its in the paint, if you do decide to wet sand be careful, oem paint is very thin. when you wet sand and find that the scratches have little grooves in teh middle, stop already its too deep of a scratch.
