GPS Magellan700 or Garmin2660?

I was wondering if any of you are using the Magellan 700 or Garmin 2660? I have read all the reviews and they seem mixed. I would like to hear first hand your own experience if any. Pros and Cons.
Sorry for posting in Bay Area Forum, but I didn't feel right about posting in stereo and security for what ever reasons.
thanks,
Bill

This one is pretty much the definative GPS geek forum:

These two models are about as direct a competitors as you'll find, they both cost the same, have about the same sized screen and pretty much the same features.
If you already have a handheld, you'd probably want to stick with the brand just so you don't have to re-learn the interface, but even at that they are pretty much the same.

I don't own either, but have friends who have both, (different friends) and like I said- it seems to be six of one/ half dozen the other....

been a garmin user since like mid 90s'...

one thing i hate about the the new mapping units are how UGLY the interface looks.

granted, maybe i'm spoiled how microsoft's mapping app, STREETS AND TRIPS look like on a 15" laptop screen, but geez, with the yellow colors on blue and a semi low resolution on the garmin units..... yikes!

if you can wait, CES is happening 2nd week of jan and usually, there is something new up garmin's sleeve... i like visiting their booth...

but if you cant wait, order it here:

www.tvnav.com

great prices.

btw, sure about the 2660? that's the one that must be installed by an auth garmin dealer since it hooks up to various systems in your car.

once setup, it doesnt need gps, since it can use dead reckoning...

the 2610/2620 doesnt have DR...

Oops, yeah I was thinking 2620, the 2660 has to cost a lot more, and like he's saying,

-are you sure about that?

one more thing...

diff between the 2610 and 2620 is about $400-500 for an included CF card holding the maps, instead of buying your and loading it afterwards... take your pick... lol...

also,

www.gpspassion.com for forum needs. i picked up a deal there to buy delorme's topo dvd and save around $40...
