GPS advise, around $200ish
Hey all I need to get a GPS for the wife as her new job requires a bit of travel. Any advise? I've been checking out the Garmin Nuvi 265! Looking for ease of use and best bang for the buck.
TIA!

I have the Garmin 255, great little unit.
A++ would buy again!
- text to speech
- multiple destinations
- decent battery life
- good maps (although the routes it comes up with can be a little odd)
- cool icons for your vehicle
- small and intuitive

I picked up the 265w earlier this summer and have like it. Though I haven't played around with it a whole lot, traffic updates updates don't seem to be extremely useful. Usually you find yourself in stop-and-go traffic and then look at the GPS, only to see it confirm the road you're on has traffic by highlighting it red. Also, it doesn''t automatically adjust for traffic issues and recalculate your route.
I'm assuming you've already found it by searching, but amazon has a pretty decent chart comparing all the features of the different garmin nuvi's to help decide which model is best for you.

here is what was suggested to me
I bout one of these last year from Woot. I love the thing super easy to use, huge screen and a great mount. no complaints about it what-so-ever. They're the lower end of the Maestro line but works flawlessly.

Thanks guys, so far I'm leaning toward the Garmin, next would be the TomTom. I guess it's like ,"Should I get a Canon or Nikon"! For my price range features/performance on these two makes seem to be pretty comparable.
As for traffic alerts, I think by the time it hits the GPS it's usually too late. I'm not sure how any GPS would be able to give a decent heads up, unless it's a major accident that would cause 1-2hr delays, where there may be enough time to be alerted by the GPS.

My gps fell off the windshield and smashed it's screen on the shifter. I had to buuy another one. Walmart had a Magellan Roadmate for $160 bucks. I like this one too. Points of interest are very cool. There's tons of them. They all do a goodjob in that price range.
